Batman Begins

After viewing Batman Begins, I definetly breathed a sigh of relief. One, because the last two films in the previous series were totally lame and unbearibly cartoonish. And two, because the last film I saw that was written by David Goyer, Blade Trinty, was almost just as bad (but at least they didn't have a campy 60's TV show to copy from).

The first thing I liked was that the character was in a real setting. While I enjoyed Tim Burtons vision of Gotham City, it was cool to see Batman in a real place (I understand that parts were actually filmed in Chicago).

As far as writing is concerned, I was pleased with the way Batman/Bruce Waynes origin was told. How he trained, what he learned, and what fueld his lust for justice years after his parents died, was there through out the whole film.

David Goyer placed strong emphasis on the feelings of loss by Bruce Wayne, and a sense of feeling guilty.

I also enjoyed the role Alfred played. Not only as butler, but also as a father to Bruce. You could tell there was strong feeling there.

All the performances were great. The movie looked great. Not that it matters all that much, but James Gordon actually looked like James Gordon!

One last thing, it was good to see a comic movie in which all the villans didn't die. This was a major gripe for me with Burton's first movie
