It’s not everyday that you get to see a highly stylized action movie filled with mind-blowing stunts, but the Revolution Studios film XXX does it all and more. With tons of action packed material, this is a movie to rush your adrenaline.
“Xander Cage (Vin Diesel) is a notorious underground trill-seeker who, until now, has been deemed untouchable by the law. But when crack NSA Agent Gibbons (Samuel L. Jackson) convinces Cage to infiltrate a ruthless Russian crime ring, this ‘New Breed of Secret Agent’ (code name: XXX) takes down the enemies of justice with a vengeance in this high-octane, turbo-charged thrill-ride from the acclaimed director of The Fast and the Furious.”
The film is pumped full of death defying stunts; including insane car stunts, incredible motorcycle jumps and chases, and even a virus-filled boat chase. Most all the stunts in this film were done without the use of a single green/blue screen. Rob Cohen is a master when it comes to action scenes.
The music is terrific and rich, with tons of great rock music and orchestra alike.
There are many shootout scenes, pumped to the max with flying debris and explosions. The film is somewhat like a James Bond movie, but better. “Think Rambo crossed with A View to a Kill.” * XXX has more action, but still the cool gadgets and weapons, along with a sweet GTO packed full with every weapon and feature available.
The story is great, and the acting is superb. Vin Diesel is the ultimate action movie star. Asia Argento shines in the supporting role. Aside for the somewhat phony snowboarding scene, XXX is a wonderful movie.
