Shrek 2

Shrek 2 is a brilliant take on fairy tales and their skewed meaning in contemporary society. I was delighted to see the theme of the young Princess Fiona finding her Prince on a White Knight (or in this case, a large Ogre with his donkey) brought into everyday 21st century reality with Fiona bringing Shrek home to her royal parents. With her father closely guarding a lifelong secret and an evil fairy godmother pushing her immature princely son upon Fiona, we learn the differences between true love and happiness and the societal pressures behind the tales we all grew up with as children. I just wish Shrek 2 was around when I was a little girl.
