William Broyles has written four of his past five scripts for Fox: 2002's Unfaithful UNFAITHFUL, 2001's PLANET OF THE APES, 2000's CAST AWAY and 1999's ENTRAPMENT. He also wrote the WB's upcoming THE POLAR EXPRESS for Robert Zemeckis, whom he has worked with before on CAST AWAY. Served in US Marine Corps in Vietnam.

Joined Newsweek as editor-in-chief; resigned in 1984.
1984 Made return trip to Vietnam; became basis of his 1986 book "Brothers in Arms: A Journey From War to Peace" (published in 1986).

1995 Made feature screenwriting debut as co-writer of "Apollo 13"; earned an Oscar nomination.
1999 Contributed to script of the romantic thriller "Entrapment".
2000 Scripted "Cast Away", starring Tom Hanks.
2001 Penned the remake of "Planet of the Apes".
