David Newman is best known for his revolutionary collaboration with Robert Benton, "Bonnie and Clyde" (1967), for which they received Oscar nominations. A screenplay which marked the beginning of the "Golden Age" of screenwriting. Before joining the film industry, Newman worked as a magazine writer and editor.
