Graduated from the University of Central Florida School of Film in 1994, attending there with him were cohorts: Eduardo Sanchez and Gregg Hale. Together while at the school they worked on a trilogy of short films. In 1999, Myrick co-created the low-budget blockbuster "The Blair Witch Project". With its documentary look it created a sensation when it appeared at the Sundance Film Festival. Brilliantly marketed on the Internet detailing the supposedly true history of the Blair Witch and the mysterious disappearance of the three student filmmakers, the film became a smash hit in part becuase of the Internet following it produced, landing Myrick and Sanchez on the covers of Time and Newsweek.
