A former rock journalist before becoming a screenwriter and director, Cameron Crowe has established himself by crafting offbeat, poignant, and comedic presentations of teen angst. At the early age of 15, while still in highschool, he sbumitted articles on music to Rolling Stone magazine, which were published. After highschool, at the age of 22, he returned to school to do research for his first script, "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" (1982) -- his future wife Nancy Wilson had a small role in the film. He next wrote and directed (his debut) the seminal 1980s teen comedy, "Say Anything..." (1989). He followed that up with "Singles" (1992), about a group of young Seattle twentysomethings and their relationships. In 1996 he achieved his greatest commercial and critical success to date as the writer, producer, and director of "Jerry Maguire".
