Another hum drum week for spec sales. If you’re not a professional, good luck! Still, some movement on the original spec side including Golden Gate , which is nice. Also, interestingly, The Eagle of the Ninth which is a period piece. Comedies , Romantic Comedies and Thrillers seemed to be the apple of the eye this past week. Good luck. Nah, not really! SPEC PICK OF THE WEEK: Golden Gate (Thriller)- Described as “edgy”, story concerns a young female track star who is trying to escape a checkered past and is stalked by a deranged socialite.

Note: Tommy O'Haver, the co-writer and director of "An American Crime," will direct the feature. Bohl is the co-wrote of the thriller "Swimfan."
BEST OF THE REST:
Murder, Inc. (Thriller) - it’s about two estranged brothers whose parents were brutally murdered when they were young. One becomes an FBI agent who decides to get his long-lost brother out of jail to take out the man who killed their parents.

Good Looking ( Romantic Comedy) - a future dating service that has a perfect track record for matching soulmates around the world. The story line follows a guy who has the audacity to reject the person chosen for him.

Note: This is Chris McCoy’s second project this month sold to DreamWorks. McCoy developed the idea last year while on a working vacation in London, where he noticed the city's near-universal coverage by surveillance camera to deter crime. He started musing on alternative uses for that collected personal information.
The Lucky One (Romantic Drama) - tells the story of a marine in Iraq who, for good luck, carries the photograph of a woman he has never met. He unearths a raft of secrets when he returns to the U.S. and sets out to find her.

More: This is an adaptation of the most recent Nicholas Sparks novel. Fetters also is penning "Memoirs," the Summit Entertainment relationship drama that's a potential starring vehicle for "Twilight" star Robert Pattinson. The next Sparks story to hit the big screen is "Dear John," which Lasse Hallstrom is directing for Relativity and Screen Gems. It stars Channing Tatum and Amanda Seyfried and will be released early next year.
The Necklace (Teen Angst/Drama) - detail the flirty fun of three teenage girls who answer an ad to become au pairs for the summer to a rich family with four kids. Sex, sand and shopping ensue in the Hamptons-set story.

More: This is an adaptation of the first book in the series "The Au Pairs," written by Melissa de la Cruz. Garcia is a consulting producer on "Cold Case" and is co-writing a TNT pilot called "Delta Blues."
The Many Deaths of Barnaby James – Story on a teenager in a circus for the dead who is trying to bring his true love back to life.

Ride Along (Action /Comedy) - Story of a rogue cop with a soft spot for his sister. When she reveals she's engaged to an upper-crust white psychiatrist, the cop sets out to destroy the relationship by inviting his future brother-in-law on a ride-along.

The Eagle of the Ninth (Drama / Period) - Story revolves around a wounded Roman soldier and his loyal Celtic slave who try to solve the mystery of the Ninth Legion, a brigade of Roman soldiers that vanished after heading into the untamed Highlands of Scotland 15 years earlier.

The World Without Us (Drama) - Story about what life on Earth would be like if humans were suddenly to disappear. The project explores how edifices and houses would deteriorate, how long and which man-made objects would linger and last, the environmental impact nuclear waste and other pollutants would have left unchecked and how nature would spread over built environments.
