Levinson Takes On THE CAPTAIN AND THE SHARK
Warner Bros. has acquired the rights to the non-fiction war
book THE CAPTAIN AND THE SHARK by Doug Stanton. Barry Levinson
(BANDITS, 2001) is attached to direct and write.
STORYLINE: True story of Capt. Charles McVay, the skipper
of the USS Indianapolis, whose cruiser was sunk in the Pacific
in 1945 after it covertly transported components of the atomic
bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. McVay was made a scapegoat
by the Armed Forces and eventually committed suicide in 1968.
