Intermedia Picks Up GIRL WITH A PEARL EARRING
Intermedia Films has optioned the based on a true story GIRL
WITH A PEARL EARRING. The script was adapted by Olivia Hetreed
(WHAT KATY DID, 1999, TV) from the novel by Tracy Chevalier.
Chevalier based her novel on legal documents from the 17th
century. Mike Newell (DONNIE BRASCO, 1997) is in talks to direct.
STORYLINE: Set in the 17th century and concerns a teenage
girl who is hired as a housemaid by Dutch painter Johannes Vermeer.
She must deal with his six kids, jealous pregnant wife, and dour
mother-in-law.
