Columbia Pictures buys script for $4 million
Columbia Pictures outbid several others to take home
David Koepp's thriller "The Panic Room." In an intense
bidding war Columbia put down $2 million with another
$1 mill in production fees and yet another $1 million
for Koepp who will also get a significant backend.
Story line: A mother and daughter must hide from
intruders in the "panic room" of their new house. The action
soon becomes intense as they must fight for their lives.
Deal: $4 million

"Spider-Man" (2001), "Stir of Echoes" (1999) (screenplay),
"Snake Eyes" (1998) (story), "Men in Black" (1997).
