Columbia TriStar Television has optioned "When Pride Still
Mattered: The Life and Myth of Vince Lombardi," by author
David Maraniss, on behalf of production partner Baumgarten-
Prophet.
Story line: based on the life of the legendary football
coach. Known for his "winning isn't everything, it's the only
thing" philosophy, Lombardi left an alcoholic wife and neglected
kids in the wake of his five NFL championships.
Deal: high-six-figure range if the project is produced.
Writer credits: author of "First in His Class: The Biography
of Bill Clinton."
