Hollywood script deals
Fox 2000 has taken out an 18-month option on Francoise
Sagan's 1954 novel ``Bonjour Tristesse.''
The novel centers on efforts by the restless teen-age
daughter of an aging playboy to undermine what may be her
father's last chance for happiness -- marriage to her
strait-laced godmother. The girl's plot goes awry, ending
in tragedy.

Scribe John Ridley (``Three Kings'') is on a roll. He has
signed an overall deal with the Greenblatt-Janollari Studio
to develop both comedy and drama projects, including a
supernatural actioner that's already been snatched up by Fox
Broadcasting.
Ridley also a supervising producer on NBC's ``Third Watch,'' will
write and executive produce the Fox pilot for the 2000-01
season.
Ridley also wrote and directed 1997's ``Cold Around the Heart,''
a dark love story about two bickering thieves. He's currently
developing a script with Eddie Murphy for ``Beverly Hills Cop 4''
and has completed an adaptation of the Lorenzo Carcaterra novel
``Apaches.'' Ridley has also published several novels.
His TV credits include writing stints on ``Martin,'' ``The John
Larroquette Show'' and ``The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.''

NBC and Studios USA are developing an hourlong drama with ``Ghost''
scribe Bruce Joel Rubin.
The project concerns a group of people led on a spiritual journey
by mysterious voices warning of a major transformation in
store for all humanity.
Rubin credits: to ``Ghost,'' ``Jacob's Ladder'' and ``Deep Impact.''
