Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, the writers responsible for Billy Bob Thornton's recent hit, "Bad Santa," in which Thornton played a bad department store Santa, have been tapped to write the script for the actor's next project: a "The Bad News Bears" remake. Thornton will star in the remake of the 1976 film in which Walter Matthau played the coach of a Little League team of misfits that he turns into a winner.
Ficarra and Requa reportedly are already at work on the screenplay in a deal potentially worth $1.75 million if the film is produced.
"I thought it was a great idea for Billy to do the Matthau character," said producer Geyer Kosinski.
