Butler's Script Sale of the Week...

If Michael Jackson gets to direct a movie, then so should I.

The Coen Brothers know how to do a remake. With THE LADYKILLERS they've chosen a solid flick that most people wouldn't have ever seen (it's British and was made in 1955). Although, getting actors to fill the shoes of Alec Guinness and Peter Sellers may prove difficult.

Someone at Universal knows how to do remakes as well. They'll be
updating (if you can call it that, perhaps "translating" is a better word as it was filmed in 1999) the Japanese film KAOSU (CHAOS). Benicio DelToro will star with DeNiro providing support. As long as they don't go THE VANISHING route, this could be cool.

Let's hope Akiva Goldsman knows how to do sequels. Past experience may suggest he does not, but the Oscar winner has been given the enviable task of continuing the PITCH BLACK story.

Whimpering or not, I love Halle Berry.

Finally my sale of the week is a project that exemplifies how absolutely not to do a sequel. Do we really need to see THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS 2? I would argue we didn't even need to see the first one, but apparently some people (?) enjoyed it. Aside from flashy cars, cool stunts, and possibly the charms of Vin Diesel, the flick basically sucked.

But it made money. So here comes the sequel, without Diesel, as Paul Walker returns as the Keanu Reeves impersonating cop who this time infiltrates a street racing circuit in Miami. I'm not sure if director Rob Cohen is returning, but if he is then it should definitely quell any doubts as to how much this baby will stink.

Honestly, why don't they just skip filming this crap and just release the sequel as a video game?

And if you really loved the first flick (God help you) the real sequel is being released this summer.

It's called XXX. Enjoy.
