Script Report: Untitled Irish 'GOD FATHER' Story
January 26th, 2001
According to reports, Fox 2000 has paid a high-six-figures for an untitled epic pitch about a fictitious, Don Corleone-like figure. Scribes Chris Wilkinson and Steve Rivele (ALI) will pen the script as a directing vehicle for Jim Sheridan (MY LEFT FOOT).
The story centers on an Irish orphan who's rescued from the potato famine in 1895 and brought to America. There he becomes a powerful political and financial figure with ties to organized crime.
Wilkinson and Rivele have already started hacking away at the script, and will reportedly have to share a story credit with Sheridan.
The scribes also wrote the Oliver Stone-directed NIXON and are working with Ang Lee on the Ray Stark-produced Columbia biopic HOUDINI as well as the Disney picture GEMINI MAN.
Needless to say, they are two very busy chaps.
