Kenneth Lonergan (YOU CAN COUNT ON ME) Taking Next Project to Searchlight...

Oscar-nominated Kenneth Lonergan for You Can Count on Me, has started negotiations to bring his next project to Fox Searchlight. Sydney Pollack and Anthony Minghella are attached to produce through their Mirage Enterprises, as is the Paramount-based Scott Rudin.
The Lonergan penned story centers on a 17-year-old girl who witnesses a bus accident. After the accident, the circumstances as to whether the crash really was an accident is called into question, ulitmately affecting many different people. The film is currently budgeted in the $15 million range, with the producers now looking for financial partners for the project. Shooting is slated to take place in New York.
Lonergan is repped by CAA and has written for the Warner Bros. comedies Analyze This and Analyze That, and Miramax's Gangs of New York. Both Count on Me and Gangs earned Lonergan Oscar nominations.
Despite his film success, Lonergan proclaims himself to be a playwright at heart.
