Oscar is All KINGS...

Hey Folks, Chris here, well the Academy once again doesn't get it completely right, but they're getting closer. Thankfully though, "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King" topped the list of Oscar nominees on this morning, landing in 11 categories including Best Picture.

How in the world does Anthony Minghella's "Cold Mountain" not make it for Best Adapted Screenplay? This is a complete SNAFU by the voters, incredible! All of the nominees are worthy, but why leave out Minghella's finely crafted screenplay I do not know. But that wasn't the only script I couldn't believe wasn't on the list, John August's adaptation of "Big Fish" was near genius. Where is it? It has to be there, has to. The voters have regarded the screenplay nominations as an afterthought, and never is that more apparent than this year. The good news though, is it pretty much sets up an easy win (thankfully) for "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King", adapted by Fran Walsh, Philippa Boyens and Peter Jackson. As for Original Screenplay, these were far easier to predict as it turns out. I was a little disappointed "Thirteen" didn't get the nom over "Dirty Pretty Things," which was the least worthy of the group in my opinion. I think here the obvious winner is Coppola and "Lost in Translation." So anyway, here are the nominees for the major categories:
