Script Sales: HAMMER OF THE GODS
April 22nd, 2003
In a pre-emptive bid, Regency Enterprises is in negotiations to pick up feature film rights to the graphic novel "Hammer of the Gods," with veteran writing duo Peter Wortmann and Bob Conte attached to script in a deal initially worth mid-six figures.
"Gods" is described as a fantasy project similar to "The Lord of the Rings" but adding in Norse mythology with a contemporary twist. It follows a 21-year-old man who one day learns that he is fated to save another world -- the Norse world. If he fails, that world will fail, and evil will bleed into the present day.
Wortmann and Conte most recently set up the comedy "Park Avenue Ghost" at Miramax Films and the medieval actioner "The Black Rock" at Chuck Gordon's Daybreak Prods. Other credits include the ABC family telefilm "The One" and the John Candy comedy "Who's Harry Crumb?"

Universal Pictures has picked up an untitled action-thriller pitch by Jason Richman for Paramount-based Lorenzo Di Bonaventura to produce.
The project is described as a Hitchcockian thriller about a former FBI agent who has run away from his past and must now go back to it and face his demons. In the process, he redeems himself.
Richman co-wrote Touchstone Pictures' "Bad Company," starring Anthony Hopkins and Chris Rock . He also scripted New Line Cinema's upcoming third installment of the "Rush Hour" franchise.
