Script Sales: THE DEVIL IN WHITE CITY...

Paramount Pictures has acquired feature film rights to Erik Larson's book "The Devil in White City: Murder, Magic and Madness at the Fair That Changed America," with Kathryn Bigelow attached to direct and produce with Tom Cruise 's studio-based banner, C/W Prods.

Scribe Chris Kyle will adapt the book, which is the fact-based account of two men -- one an architect, the other a serial killer named H.H. Holmes -- who turned the 1893 Chicago World's Fair into their playground. The book hit the shelves in February and made it to the New York Times best-seller list shortly thereafter.

Larson previously penned "Isaac's Storm: A Man, a Time and the Deadliest Hurricane in History" and "Lethal Passage: The Story of a Gun." Bigelow previously helmed "K-19: The Widowmaker" for Paramount. Kyle previously penned "K-19" and, more recently, "Alexander" for Oliver Stone .
