Script Report: BABY MONITOR
February 11th, 2003
This takes the cake...
"The Fast and the Furious" scribe Gary Scott Thompson sold his drama pitch "Baby Monitor," to Alcon Entertainment has paid a mid-six-figure advance. The premise is, strangely, described as being reminiscent of "Rear Window," only the details of a possible crime aren't seen, they're overheard. Baby monitors are commonly used by new parents to keep track of sleeping infants. Anyone who uses them knows they have a tendency to pick up other signals. In this tale, a woman who spends a lot of time alone in a new town begins to think her baby might be the target of a kidnap plot. Even her husband doesn't seem trustworthy. But are her concerns well-founded or the result of the rush of postpartum hormones?
