Script Report: MAD MAX 4
December 11th, 2002
The BBC reported that Mel Gibson is set to return for a sweet sum of $25 million to reprise the role of the famed Desert Warrior in a fourth entry in the series from Kennedy/Miller Productions. Despite the entire film franchise earning less than $70 million total at the box-office, and the previous film BEYOND THUNDERDOME being released way back in 1985, 20th Century Fox still plans to go ahead with this sequel. Currently utilising the working title FURY ROAD, the budget is set at $104 million with shooting aiming to begin in May in Australia under the helm of the original film's director George Miller. No word on the plot so far though the report does indicate we'll see the character in the post-apocalpytic Australian outback yet again - thankfully no Tina Turner re-appearance is likely.
