The Walt Disney Co. has snatched up the animated feature pitch THE FOOL'S ERRAND from screenwriter David H. Steinberg. Although details about the project are being withheld. Reportedly the story centers on a court jester who goes on a mythical journey to return peace to his kingdom. Steinberg, who co-wrote last summer's AMERICAN PIE 2 for Universal Pictures, has also penned the recent comedy SLACKERS for Sony's Screen Gems. FOOL marks Steinberg's first venture into the animated family market as well as his first work with Disney. Most recently his AFTER SCHOOL SPECIAL script/movie, a comedy starring Amy Smart, Tom Arnold and Horatio Sanz is in postproduction. Steinberg also is developing a half-hour sitcom for Gavin Polone's Pariah Prods.
