Spielberg Talks MINORITY REPORT, Forgets to Mention Screenwriter
May 30th, 2002
You know, I find it interesting that in my interview with Scott Frank in Creative Screenwriting (on sale now) about MINORITY REPORT, Frank goes out of his way to compliment and give the director his due. But, in a recent interview for Wired, Spielberg doesn't even mention Frank when it would have been appropriate to at least once give the writer a plug. It's a shame and it's not unusual for Spielberg to forget mentioning his screenwriters. He has done it before. It must just slip his mind. I hate to think what MINORITY REPORT would look like without Frank's script.
PS- I'm glad to see the "auteur" theory is still alive and kicking. Where's Andrew Sarris when you need him? "A Steven Spielberg Film..."
