Fleder on JURY
March 6th, 2002
DONT SAY A WORD director Gary Fleder has come aboard to direct the film RUNAWAY JURY. He is the latest in a long line of directors who have signed on for the project. Mike Newell was the last.
You can find my review of the above-average script on the site.
The story is about how one juror manipulates his fellow civil servants and blackmails the defense.
The draft I read, by Matthew Chapman (which apparently enraged author John Grisham), was pretty much a comedy. The script has now been rewritten by the ROUDERS screenwriters, and I doubt toward the better.
Fleder last made a fairly competent thriller with DONT SAY A WORD, so maybe hell be able to find a middle ground with this material.
