The nominated scripts were originally broadcast between September 1, 2000, and August 31, 2001. All teleplays and radio scripts are read by panels of judges. The winning scripts will have been read by six or more judges each independent of the other. The same procedures are followed for viewing of videotapes for On-Air Promotion.

Winners of the Television and Radio Awards, along with winners of the Screen Awards, will be announced Saturday, March 2, 2002, at the 54th Annual Writers Guild Awards ceremonies on both coasts. The Writers Guild of America, west ceremonies will be held in Beverly Hills at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, and the Writers Guild of America, East ceremonies will be held in New York at the Pierre Hotel.
