Bay revs up CHAINSAW
January 31st, 2002
In the what-is-he-thinking? file, we find...
Mike Bays new production company is going to remake that most famous of slasher films -- TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE. Theres still a market for this type of stuff -- even a cheap knockoff like JEEPERS CREEPERS brought in some money -- but why remake this movie? Why not try to put a new spin on the low-budget slasher flick?
A lot of CHAINSAWs charm derives from its low budget and its bellwether status as the film that galvanized the dirt-cheap, kill-the-pretty-twentysomethings genre of movies.
The films original director, Tobe Hooper, is writing a draft of the remake with his co-writer from the first film, Kim Henkel.
