Script Report: EUSTACE DIAMONDS
January 22nd, 2002
Scribe Julian Fellowes (GOSFORD PARK) will adapt Anthony Trollope's EUSTACE DIAMONDS for a project to be directed by Sharon Maguire (BRIDGET JONE'S DIARY).
"When Margaret Mitchell wrote GONE WITH THE WIND, her inspiration was 'Eustace Diamonds' and 'Vanity Fair,'" Fellowes told Variety. "Our character and Scarlett O'Hara were sisters under the skin, with ours this foxy, witty, clever and sharp woman attempting to keep hold of a diamond necklace she shouldn't have."
Fellowes' GOSFORD PARK script received a Golden Globe nomination and won top honors from both the New York Film Critics and the National Society of Film Critics.
