Director Ted Demme Dead at 38

Ted Demme, director-producer of the movies BLOW, THE REF, WHO'S THE MAN, LIFE and BEAUTIFUL GIRLS and the television shows YO! MTV RAPS and ACTION, died Sunday afternoon after collapsing during a charity basketball game. He was 38. Demme was rushed to Santa Monica-UCLA Medical Center after collapsing during the NBA Entertainment League celebrity game at the private Crossroads School and was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital. The cause of death has not been determined, and an autopsy will be conducted.
Demme, nephew to WILD THING director Jonathan Demme, was next going to make a film called NAUTICA. The story of a murder on a yacht in the Caribbean that is told three times, each from the perspective of one of the three vacationers; it was to star (possibly) Heath Ledger and Ewan McGregor.
