Helmers Create Their Own 4 Headed Monster... Company

In a consolidation of talent and power, some of the most respected young film directors (the top young guns) are forming their own company. It is rumored that USA Films will be involved, which could result in a power shift in their favor. USA will potentially contribute financing and marketing, and get domestic distribution rights.
Steven Soderbergh (TRAFFIC, OUT OF SIGHT), Spike Jonze (BEING JOHN MALKOVICH), David Fincher (FIGHT CLUB, SE7EN) and Alexander Payne (ELECTION) are the reported group forming the company. Each director/partner will direct three movies in the first five years. They will direct their own films and have complete creative control.
The forming a company (by a group of directors) to gain creative control is nothing new. Francis Coppola, Peter Bogdanovich and William Friedkin did the same thing in the 1960s with Paramounts help.
