In a deal rumored to be worth seven figures, scribe Chris Gerolmo (MISSISSIPPI BURNING) has signed with Universal to write and direct a film based on the story of Leopold II, the Belgian monarch whose rubber-producing factory was quietly responsible for the deaths of millions of people. The story is titled THE KING INCORPORATED.
Gerolmo will adapt Neal Ascherson's book about a group of young employees who lost everything when they tried to expose the enslavement, torture and dismemberment of locals in the Congo who were forced to harvest rubber.
