Humanitas Prize Goes to Kenneth Lonergan

Screenwriter and director Kenneth Lonergan is this year's Humanitas Prize winner in the feature film category for writing YOU CAN COUNT ON ME.

Additionally, Suzette Couture took the award in the 90-minute or longer network or syndicated television category for writing Night 2 of the CBS miniseries "Haven," and Emma Thompson and Mike Nichols won for "Wit" in the 90-minute or longer PBS/cable category. The three categories each offer the $25,000 top prize.

The Humanitas Prize, established in 1974, recognizes television and motion picture writers whose work honestly explores the complexities of the human experience and sheds light on the positive values of life. The ceremony was held during a luncheon at the Hilton Universal.
