Nobody in Hollywood likes to be the first, but they love to be the second, or third, or fourth to try something new. After all, the first has the likely chance of failure or disaster to worry about. With THE MUMMY RETURNS the top stiff at the box office, James Cameron's Lightstorm Entertainment and 20th Century Fox have signed scribe Karen Essex to adapt Anne Rice's novel THE MUMMY OF RAMSES THE DAMNED.
The story deals with the historical Egyptian pharaoh Ramses the Great. That's where the history ends, after sleeping for 2,000 years he is awakened by an archeologist, who then must keep Ramses a secret.
