Script Report: SWAT

Screenwriter David Ayer has been one busy little bee. The U-571 scribe recently penned Warner Bros' Denzel Washington starrer TRAINING DAY. He is now finishing up SQUIDS for New Line. He also co-wrote, THE PLAGUE SEASON with James Ellroy (based on Ellroy's book) for Intermedia, Ron Shelton directing and Kurt Russell playing the lead. The upcoming THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS, due out June 22, is also Ayer's.
Today Vareity reported that Ayer will be paid seven-figures to do some major rewriting on Columbia Pictures' troubled project SWAT. According to reports the story will deal with a grizzled SWAT officer is given a second chance to take a new team to protect a high-profile criminal.
