Untitled Denzel Washington Project About Security Guard Turned Screenwriter...
April 6th, 2001
Something that caught my eye today in the newswire.
Denzel Washington's first direct gig (via The Fox Searchlight) is an autobiographical story about an aspiring screenwriter who once worked as a security guard on the Sony lot.
According to reports, Washington may play a small role and will also produce. Production will obviously wait until after the Writers and Screen Actors guilds contracts are worked out with producers (if they are).
Washington has been involved with the project since 1998, when it was scheduled to start pre-production in January 1999 and begin shooting that summer after Washington wrapped THE HURRICANE, but instead moved on to REMEMBER THE TITANS. Which was obviously a good move.
