Script Report: STREET BOYS

In what is believed to be one of the biggest pitch sales for Warner Bros., Producer Steve Reuther's company with WB's backing, paid $1.5 million for the World War II set novel STREET BOYS, written by author Lorenzo Carcaterra -- who wrote SLEEPERS. He will also pen the script. Barry Levinson to direct.

Carcaterra pitched the project last week to a select group of bidders, with the rights selling late Friday night. Including production bonuses, Carcaterra's take, reportedly, could total $2.5 million.

The novel is set during World War II and is based on a true story about a group of Italian children forced to band together, their fathers were all off fighting the war, to defeat a Nazi tank battalion before it completely destroys their town.
