X-MEN Director to Produce New BATTLESTAR GALACTICA Series...
February 22nd, 2001
When "Battlestar Galactica" premiered on ABC in 1978 it was the most expensive television show ever costing about $1 million per episode. This week it was announced that director Bryan Singer(X-MEN) will bring the series back to life as executive producer. No word yet on whether or not he'll direct an episode.
"Battlestar Galactica" was put together by Glen Larson in the wake of the vastly successful STAR WARS movie. It starred Lorne Greene as the commander of the title vessel. Though it only ran for two years, the series has attracted a cult following. Singer says he is up to the task and will remain true to the original vision of Larson.
"The lesson I learned on 'X-Men' is to have a healthy respect for the fan base of sci-fi fantasy franchises, and I'm confident that the 'Galactica' brand is a sleeping giant," Singer told Variety.
