GLADIATOR and TRAFFIC Are Golden...

GLADIATOR garnered 10 nominations and TRAFFIC nine, which put them in the top spots for the fifth annual Golden Satellite Awards, to be presented by the International Press Academy at the Beverly Hills Hotel on Jan. 14.
GLADIATOR nods included Ridley Scott for director, Russell Crowe for actor in a drama, and Joaquin Phoenix for supporting actor in a drama.
TRAFFIC's nominations include Steven Soderbergh for director and Benicio Del Toro for supporting actor in a drama. Soderbergh is competing against himself, since he's also nominated for ERIN BROCKOVICH.
