Update: The Latest on James Cameron

While talking to Premiere (via Eon Magazine), James Cameron indicated that he is having seconds thoughts on his collaboration with scribe Al Reinert on the much talked about Mars projects. If you recall our latest report on 10/5/00, James Cameron was producing and co-writing two fictional Mars exploration films. One was a 3-D film for Imax, and the other a five-part mini-series for the Fox television network. If that was not enough, he was also co-writing a Martian novel with author Charles Pellegrino. As we reported, the director is still working on his novel which is based on his research from the other projects.

"It's turned out to be a very sneaky project from a writing standpoint. Al Reinert and I are working on it, but I've taken the reigns back to do my own pass, and I've decided to complete a novel first, based on this material, because I just need to know what my priorities are in terms of character," says Cameron. "[The Mars Project] is a fictional mini-series with tendrils in many media. The current plan is to do it as both a TV mini-series and a 3-D IMAX movie."
