Script Report: THE BIJOU
October 13th, 2000
It's looking more and more like THE BIJOU is going to be Frank Darabont's (THE GREEN MILE) next film. Jim Carrey, Martin Landau, and Allen Garfiel are most likely all going to be in it and Castle Rock Pictures is of course producing it. Who else! It does look like another writer has been brought in to work on the script a little, and I think that's a good idea. If you recall we got our hands on Darabont's draft and did a review a month or so back, click here to read it. The script really does still need some work, but we're confident it will get worked out.
The writer is Michael Sloane, who I know nothing about. I found two Michael Sloane's in the Internet Movie Database, couldn't tell which one could be the guy, lets hope neither.
Story: THE BIJOU takes place in 1951. Hollywood was disrupted at the time by the House Un-American Activities Committee. Screenwriters, actors and directors were dragged in, questioned, labeled communists and then unable to find work. And in some cases even went to jail.
