Script Report: ALIEN LEGION

For a while it really looked like ALIEN LEGION would become a TV series. Not anymore. It is being reported that Dimension Films is developing a film based on Carl Pott's "Alien Legion" comic book series, once published under Marvel's Epic imprint.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Dimension has snagged scribe J.D. Zeik (RONIN) to write the screenplay. This is a great move, Zeik has been very quiet since RONIN, 4filmmakers.com has nothing in its database on him besides RONIN and ALIEN LEGION. His script for RONIN is one of my favorites.

The comic book's creator Carl Potts explained the stories concept to HP, "I like action-adventure projects that have something to say. The Alien Legion universe is a giant extrapolation of the U.S. melting-pot society. Instead of just having dozens of different cultures and races living together, you actually have hundreds of radically different species coexisting, and you also have all of the strengths and weaknesses of that diversity. There are obviously going to be troubles on occasion, but the strengths of the society working together far outweigh the weaknesses."

ALIEN LEGION will tell the story of a young man who joins the Alien Legion in an effort to get out on his own, away from his rich family. The legion is of course made up of alien races. The film will obviously include a lot of special effects and be heavy on the CGI side.
