Script Report: RESIDENT EVIL

According to Variety Paul Anderson (MORTAL KOMBAT) has signed on to write and direct the $40 million thriller RESIDENT EVIL, based on the bestselling Sony Play Station video game. The story centers on a military unit that fights against a powerful super computer that is out of control. It is protected by hundreds of flesh eating undead scientists. Production is slated to begin January, possibly in Europe as the film is being financed by Germany's Constantin Films, with a Halloween 2001 targeted theatrical release.
