Script Report: Another BATMAN -- BATMAN: YEAR ONE!
September 21st, 2000
According to Variety, the much heralded director of PI, Darren Aronofsky, will reportedly be directing the fifth installment of Warner Bros. BATMAN franchise, BATMAN: YEAR ONE. Aronofsky will also co-write and develop the screenplay with Frank Miller, who is the author of Warner Books "Batman: YO" -- which the film will be based on.
Miller wrote "Batman: YO" over ten years ago as a four-issue story published by DC Comics. It detailed the beginning of Bruce Wayne's adventures as Batman. His struggles with self-doubt, and how he develops his skill as a crime fighter. Also of note, Lieutenant James Gordon (soon to be Commissioner Gordon) and Batman are at first enemies, they soon develop a trust and respect for one another.
