Script Report: Christopher McQuarrie and THE PRISONER

As we know Screenwriter-director Christopher McQuarrie (THE USUAL SUSPECTS) is penning the script for THE PRISONER, based on the original 1960s TV series. Simon West, who is currently at work on TOMB RAIDER, is set to helm.

While talking with Popcorn, McQuarrie was quoted as saying that he will not deviate from the original storyline. With some TV remakes -- THE AVENGERS for example -- being so bad it makes sense that McQuarrie will remain true to the classic. McQuarrie went on to say, "The characters work the way they were. I'm going to go straight up, old school."

I think this will be a big challenge for any screenwriter, and bringing McQuarrie on board is a fantastic move. This type of a story lends itself to a writer with his character and plot devising skills. This won't be an action packed story.
