Spielberg to Direct BIG FISH?

The producers of AMERICAN BEAUTY are reportedly close to signing Steven Spielberg to direct an upcoming project, BIG FISH, for Columbia Pictures.
Based on the novel by Daniel Wallace, FISH has been already been adapted for the big screen by John August (GO). The story centers on the estranged son of a wealthy exaggerator, Edward Bloom, returns home upon hearing that his father is dieing. He then tries to discover the truth to his past. The story is told with humorous and poignant flashbacks.
