Hollywood Scriptwriter Celebrates 20 Years
May 22nd, 2000
Hollywood Scriptwriter, the only trade paper specifically for screenwriters, celebrates 20 years of publishing this month. Started in May 1980 as a newsletter, it has always been dedicated to giving screenwriters the articles, interviews and news that specifically targets film and television writers, both in mainstream Hollywood and in the independent film communities. Says editor, Lou Grantt, "It's been a month of celebrating. Daily prizes on our website, discounts on all merchandise, and, on May 13th, a 20th Anniversary party that was attended by such notables as "Galaxy Quest" writer, Robert Gordon, filmmaker Sollace Mitchell, and a number of Hollywood writers, directors, distributors, photographers and well-wishers." While currently on the newsstands in the US, Grantt hopes that in the years to come, Hollywood Scriptwriter will be available on newsstands in London, Sydney, Paris and Tokyo. "There are screenwriters everywhere. We'd send them all a piece of our birthday cake if we could. It's thanks to them that HS is the trade paper they still read twenty years later." Celebrations will continue on the hollywoodscriptwriter.com website until May 31.
