First Time Scribes Nab Award At Cannes

Writers John C. Richards and James Flamberg walked away with the Best Screenplay Award at the Cannes Film Festival for NURSE BETTY(2000), a comedy about a widow's obsession with a soap star. It is the first writing credit for both Richards, who had previously worked as a television movie editor, and Flamberg, whose previous credits include music editor for such films as RAIN MAN(1988) and DISCLOSURE(1994). NURSE BETTY is directed by Neil LaBute, director of IN THE COMPANY OF MEN(1998) and YOUR FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS(1997). It stars Renee Zellweger, Chris Rock, and Greg Kinnear.
