Ridley Scott talks about HANNIBAL ending
May 15th, 2000
Director Ridley Scott never hesitated to sit down with HANNIBAL author Thomas Harris and talk about adapting the book to the screen, and more importantly about an ending change. Scott was quoted as saying:
"Harris spent nine years writing this book, so we all sat down for five days - because his mind is a filing cabinet of information - until we had a script we were happy with."
There are always unique challenges when one is condensing 600 pages to 110 pages. According to Scott, Harris is a professional and knows that his work can never be completely recreated on the big screen.
