Roger Ebert has very few good words for GLADIATOR story and screenplay
May 5th, 2000
Reading through the reviews online this morning of GLADIATOR, I was surprised by only one, Roger Ebert of the Chicago Sun Times.
He not only criticized the screenplay and story, saying "TITUS (1999) shames GLADIATOR, and its story is a whole heck of a lot better than the GLADIATOR screenplay." He also calls the special effects "murky," and the art direction "muddy, fuzzy and indistinct." I'm heading off this weekend to see it, I'll check back in with you then.
