LIVE AT TELLURIDE: Day 2
March 14th, 2004
Another beautiful day here in Colorado, we couldn't be happier. Today we rose, had our usual Alpine Latte, and then hit the road. The most important event today, at least for me, was Telluride's tribute to writer/director David Lynch. Since 1966 he has carved out a solid, unique and omnipresent career as a filmmaker and writer. How can you forget "Wild at Heart" (1990) starring Nicolas Cage, Laura Dern, and William Defoe. Great performances, great directing and a great script. But lets not stop there, don't forget about "Dune" (1984), "Blue Velvet" (1986) and more then 19 others to pick from. His vision, his voice for filmmaking and writing, makes David Lynch yet another excellent choice as a Telluride tribute subject.

The last place we visited was THE MAX. Easily the most impressive structure at which films are viewed here in Telluride. Veterans of the festival were sad to see the STRAND THEATER go, but THE MAX helps ease the pain. After Tellurides tribute to David Lynch was the showing of "The Shakedown." Tonight the plan is to end up back at THE MAX for another showing of "Black and White."
We're not going to make it for Monday's closing of the Telluride Film Festival. We're going to miss the afternoon picnic, and the conversations with some of the filmmakers. I had a prior engagement that could not be broken...oh well. All in all, what can I say? It's been a great weekend. The weather has been great, and the films spectacular. I hope to stay for the entire festival next year. Gee, I can't wait! Well, so long, this is Chris coming to you LIVE FROM TELLURIDE!
